Steven Reigns’ Outliving Michael | This Way Out Radio Episode #1966

Complete Program Summary
for the week of December 1, 2025

Steven Reigns’ Outliving Michael

Feature: Our NewsWrap crew took the U.S. holiday weekend off, but next week our regular NewsWrap segment returns to catch up on this week’s stories like the key marriage equality court rulings in Japan and the European Union. On this week’s special show we commemorate World AIDS Day with a reflection in poetry and the press, including comments by UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres …

Part One of Outliving Michael, a new book by Los Angeles-based poet Steven Reigns, a memorial memoir chronicling Steven’s profound friendship with Michael Church from 1994 until Michael died of AIDS in 2000. The book is captured in BRIAN DeSHAZOR’s original sound collage, using Steven’s reading of poems from Outliving Michael juxtaposed with NewsWrap reports from This Way Out’s archives. The soundtrack is drawn from some of Steven and Michael’s favorite music (Part One) [voices and music credits detailed in Part Two description below].

Feature: Outliving Michael Part Two (with NewsWrap reports by CINDY FRIEDMAN, TORI CHRISTOPHER, BRIAN NUNES, and LEO GARCIA, featuring music by TRISTAN BARTON, SYLVESTER, TRACY CHAPMAN, THE LONDON GAY MEN’S CHORUS, CONNIE VANNETT, EARTHA KITT, KIRSTY MACCOLL, PACHELBEL, LADYSMITH BLACK MAMBAZO, WU-TANG CLAN and JUDY GARLAND).

All this on the December 1, 2025 edition of This Way Out!
